For this reason alone, you may want to change WhatsApp Notification sound on your phone to something different from other notification sounds, so that you can know that you have received a WhatsApp Message, without looking at your phone.

In-fact, the custom notification feature in WhatsApp allows you to setup different notification sounds for different Contacts, so that you can know who is trying to Contact you on WhatsApp, without even having to look at their names.

Change WhatsApp Message Notification Sound On iPhone

Follow the steps below to change WhatsApp Notification Sound on iPhone or iPad.

1. Open WhatsApp on your iPhone or iPad.

2. Next, open theChat for which you want to change WhatsApp Notification sound.

3. On the next screen, tap on the Name of your Chat.

4. On the Contact info screen, tap on the Custom Tone option.

5.On the next screen, tap on the Tone that you like and then tap on Save from the top right corner of your screen (See image below)

Note: Tapping on the Tone name allows you to listen to the Tone and you can go through the available tones, in order to select the one that suits your taste and then tap on Save.

Change WhatsApp Message Notification Sound On Android Phone

1. Open WhatsApp on your Android Phone or Tablet.

2. Next, open theChat for which you want to change notification sound.

3. On the next screen, tap on the Name of the Chat located at the top.

4. On the Chats info screen, tap on Custom Notifications (See image below).

5. On the next screen, make sure that the option to Use Custom Notifications is enabled. Next, tap on Notification tone option located under Message Notifications.

6. On the pop-up that appears, tap on the Notification tone that you want to use for this Chat on WhatsApp and then tap on OK to save the settings.

Note: You try out different Tones by tapping on the available tones and select the one that suits your taste.
